~ ~ Your Cross ~ ~
The young man was at the end of his rope. Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer.
"Lord, I can't go on," he said. "I have too heavy a cross to bear." The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish."
The man was filled with relief. "Thank you, Lord," he sighed, and he did as he was told. Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible.
Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. "I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered. The Lord replied, "My son, that is the cross you just brought in."
When life's problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more blessed than you imagined.
I saw this on "Make A Child Smile" site and remembered back in 1980 when my brother Bill had pulled this very same poem out of his wallet....I remembered that I had copied it from him but over the years I had somehow misplaced it...So glad that I found it again....Please if you have never been to the site called "Make A Child Smile" I recommend it highly, especially if you THINK YOUR LIFE SUCKS!.....Cause IT DOESN'T.....NOT WHEN YOU THINK OF ALL THE LITTLE CHILDREN WHO ARE SUFFERING....HOW POSSIBLY COULD YOUR LIFE SUCK MORE THAN THAT OF A CHILD NOWING THAT THEY HAVE TO FIGHT FOR EVERY BREATH THEY TAKE AND THEN SOME.....
You know maybe it is my age, maybe not.....but I have seen suffering, I have lived suffering,...yet I do not have time in my life to throw me a "Pity Party"....nor would I ever want to....I do however, feel that everything in this lifetime happens for a reason whether I know what that reason is or not doesn't matter....what matters is that I have learned something from it or taken something away of it....and turned it into something positive for myself or others.....Life was never meant to be a simple shot from start to finish....nor are there any "cheat codes" to get through it without stumbling along the way....What we don't learn from our experiences the first time we will keep repeating till we do...or so it is said....Everything that happens to us along the road of life, builds "character, strength, dignity, honor, patience, virtue, ect....you get it....or do you! Society today sure doesn't seem to.....everytime I watch the news, or read the paper...what I see is how sadly this world has slowly turned into "A ME, ME, ME WORLD"......SO MANY HAVE BECOME SO SELF-ABSORBED, SO MUCH SO THAT I BELIEVE THE YOUTH OF TODAY ARE HAVING TO BRING THEMSELVES AND THEIR SIBLINGS UP....AND TAKE CARE OF THERE PARENTS AS WELL.....THAT JUST ISN'T RIGHT!!!!
What with so many PARENTS ADDICTED TO PAIN PILLS, UPPERS, DOWNERS, TURN ME AROUNDERS.....PUT ME TO SLEEP, WAKE ME UP, GIVE ME ENERGY, STAND ME UP....I COULD GO ON AND ON BUT WHAT IS THE SENSE...Which takes me right back to the top of this POST!!!!!
THINK TODAY ABOUT WHAT YOU TRULY, DEEPLY, MADLY NEED TO BE THANKFUL FOR...AND THEN GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES AND THANK THE GOOD LORD ABOVE....FOR NOT GIVING YOU THE BIGGEST CROSS TO BEAR!!!!!
GOD BLESS EVERYONE...MUCH LOVE, LINDA
